Job description

Sales Assistant
WHNT-TV, a leading broadcast television station, is seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic Sales Assistant to support our sales team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for entering broadcast and digital advertising orders, handling the trafficking of commercials and copy, updating programming within our proposal management system, and managing FCC filings and programming updates with TV measurement companies. The Sales assistant is also responsible for performing all clerical functions required by department personnel as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Order Entry:
    • Accurately enter broadcast and digital advertising orders into the sales system.
    • Ensure all order details are correct and align with client agreements and station policies.
  • Commercial Trafficking:
    • Coordinate and manage the trafficking of commercials and copy.
    • Work closely with the production team to ensure commercials are scheduled and aired as per the order specifications.
  • Programming Updates:
    • Regularly update and maintain the station's programming within the proposal management system.
    • Ensure all programming changes are accurately reflected and communicated to relevant departments.
  • FCC Filings:
    • Handle the filing of political documents with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
    • Ensure all filings are completed accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with FCC regulations.
  • Title Updates and Measurement Coordination:
    • Manage title updates and changes to programming with TV measurement companies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a broadcasting or media environment is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with broadcast traffic systems and proposal management systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
