Job description

MLB Network seeks an entry level Freelance Broadcast Associate (BA), Graphics to provide support to the entire Graphics production process, as assigned. The BA must have a strong passion for and knowledge of MLB and NHL and an exceptional work ethic.

Responsibilities:

  • Build effective graphics for assigned studio shows or live games.
  • Create and maintain on-air set content for assigned shows, including graphics for use in studio monitors.
  • Attend production meetings, research storylines, and act as liaison between Graphics and show Producer and Coordinating Producer to help ensure that graphics support shows as intended.
  • Maintain and produce content for assigned ticker operations.
  • Submit accurate daily show reports on a timely basis.
  • Assigned duties may include Set Content, Baseline and Blueline.
  • It is expected that the Broadcast Associate will maintain and increase knowledge in the Production discipline as well as the business on an ongoing basis.
  • Other such duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 0 to 3 years' experience or related business experience is required.
  • Must demonstrate a passion for and deep knowledge of MLB and NHL.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be extremely organized, demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
  • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in a pressurized live television environment.
  • Possess the visual acuity to work in darkened control rooms for extended periods of time to produce required content.
  • Possess auditory acuity to effectively listen to instructions via Riedel system, phones, etc.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to navigate distances of various lengths within the work environment.
  • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism or a related major is highly preferred.

Position Reports to:

  • Segment Producer, Graphics

Pay Range: $28.50/hour
