The Profeta Farms Bakery Production Cook is responsible for creating the highest quality, most delicious food possible utilizing the produce and meats produced by the farm. She or he is organized, energetic, and passionate about high-quality food. They are expected to maintain the highest level of quality, food safety, cleanliness, and production standards.

Profeta farm products are produced with the utmost care for our customers, our animals, and our land. The members of the food production team must treat these products with the same extreme level of care and thoughtfulness. This position must be dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and resourcefulness to adhere to this new culinary vision.

The Pastry Cook must maintain positive relationships, integrity, and honesty with both fellow employees and customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service and the highest quality food to our market visitors; go above and beyond to provide a superior experience and taste to the customer
Ability to scale recipes accurately and double check own work to insure mistakes are caught before issues occur
Possess a sense of urgency in relation to keeping a bread baking timeline.
Ability to work in a team-driven environment, take direction, offer direction and assist with problem solving.
Learn and be able to educate customers on Profeta Farms' agricultural practices, values, and products
Ability to mix, shape, proof, score, bake, and cool bread products properly as directed by market managers
Work well with team members while also remaining focused and motivated without supervision
Maintenance of production equipment by proper technique and cleaning schedules
Respond to customer questions, requests, and complaints in a professional manner
Accurately and promptly report complaints to management
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Employee Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures
Adherence to recipes and cooking procedures.
Presentation so that food looks delicious, wholesome, and fresh
Attention to detail and constant checks for quality assurance, pulling any products that are past date or past their peak of freshness
Proper rotation and organization of reach-in and walk-in refrigerators.
Correct date labeling.
Ensure that the market is fully stocked and clean always
Follow opening and closing procedures
Maintain a clean work station and follow sanitation and food safety guidelines
Take inventory of products and notify when products are running low, as directed by market managers
Perform miscellaneous tasks, as directed by managers
Qualifications
Culinary degree or certificate in baking and pastry preferred
Strong communication and customer service skills
Strengths in flexibility and teamwork
Self-starter, eager to learn and participate in a growing company
Be able to operate and properly maintain production equipment
Be able to do basic math and follow recipes
Understanding of metric system and able to read and understand recipes in grams
Valid driver's license or reliable transportation
Affinity for local, sustainable, and organic produce
Organization toward the purpose of eliminating wasted food
Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
Physical Requirements
Lift or move up to 50 pounds, unassisted
Carry, kneel, bend, and stand for long periods of time
Required Work Experience
1-year food production experience in restaurant, food service, or retail setting
Compensation: Based on experience. Competitive base salary plus upside based on financial performance of market and successful utilization of Profeta Farms products. Benefits include PTO, medical insurance, life insurance, and a stipend of food from the farm.
