A Brand Manager Internship is a temporary position designed for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in brand management. Interns work alongside brand managers and marketing teams to develop, execute, and analyze marketing strategies that build brand awareness and loyalty. Responsibilities often include conducting market research, assisting with promotional campaigns, analyzing consumer data, and helping to develop marketing materials. This role provides valuable insight into the daily tasks of a brand manager and helps interns develop skills needed for a career in marketing or brand management.

Is a brand manager internship entry-level?

Yes, a brand manager internship is typically an entry-level position designed for students or recent graduates interested in gaining experience in marketing, branding, and management. It often requires basic knowledge of marketing concepts and may involve tasks such as market research, social media management, and assisting with campaigns. Internships provide foundational skills and do not usually require prior professional experience.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a brand manager internship?

As a Brand Manager Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects such as assisting with marketing campaigns, analyzing consumer insights, supporting product launches, and contributing to brand strategy sessions. You'll likely collaborate closely with teams across marketing, sales, and product development, gaining hands-on experience in coordinating activities that enhance brand presence. Interns are often given real responsibility, including managing smaller projects or social media initiatives, and are encouraged to contribute creative ideas. This structure helps interns develop both their strategic thinking and communication skills, providing a strong foundation for a career in brand management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brand manager intern, and why are they important?

Job description

Join a locally owned Great Clips salon team and start building real-world salon experience while you're still in school. The Hair Stylist Intern role is designed for cosmetology and barber students who want to learn what salon life is really like, connect with a professional team, and prepare for a smooth transition into a licensed stylist role after graduation.

This opportunity is ideal for students who are curious, motivated, and excited to grow their skills in a supportive salon environment.

Cosmetology/Barber Students - Get Paid to Prepare for Your Future!
Turn your training into real experience-and real income-before you even graduate. If you're a cosmetology or barber student, this is your chance to start building your career early with hands-on salon experience and mentorship from experienced professionals.
Earn $13/hour while you train, with the opportunity to grow into a $25+ per hour stylist role once licensed. You'll gain valuable skills, potential school credit or required hours, and a clear path to a chair waiting for you after you pass your boards.

Why you'll love it here

Great Clips salons offer internship experiences that help students learn, grow, and feel confident stepping into the industry:

  • Exposure to a successful, stable salon brand and professional salon environment
  • The opportunity to build relationships with experienced stylists and salon leaders
  • Hands-on learning around salon operations, customer service, and teamwork
  • Opportunities to observe and support haircutting and finishing techniques, as allowed by state regulations
  • Experience using salon systems, tools, and technology
  • A supportive setting to ask questions, learn expectations, and understand day-to-day salon life
  • A pathway to future opportunities as a licensed stylist, where available

Program structure, scheduling, and responsibilities may vary by salon location, as internship programs are created and managed by individual Great Clips salon organizations.

About Great Clips

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Great Clips, Inc. was established in Minneapolis, Minnesota by founders David Rubenzer and Steve Lemmon in 1982, a time when most people received haircuts in one of three ways: in full-service hair salons, from barbershops or at home. As a stylist and businessman, David could see that the industry was changing. Customers were looking for a hair salon service that could fit their busy lifestyles and desire for value. To be part of that change – rather than find themselves competing with it – David and Steve developed the then-radical concept of a walk-in haircare salon with weekend and evening hours, offering customers a select list of services, and providing benefits for stylists. After the founders opened several successful hair salons, Ray Barton joined David and Steve as an owner in March 1983. With Ray's help and expertise in franchising, the trio set about growing the Great Clips hair salon brand. That success continues through today.
