Role

The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall performance and operational efficiency of the branch, ensuring exceptional member service and strict adherence to credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role provides leadership, coaching, and training to staff, fostering a positive, high performing team environment. The Branch Manager proactively seeks process improvements, and effectively manages internal and cross departmental processes to ensure consistent, high quality service delivery. Additionally, this position builds strong community relationships and supports the credit union's mission and strategic goals.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises, hires, trains, and mentors branch staff, fostering professional growth, engagement, and a positive team culture. Oversees staff duties, ensures adequate coverage, manages schedules, and monitors work quality. Conducts performance evaluations with meaningful feedback, and participates in hiring, promotions, or terminations to maintain a high performing, accountable team.

Manages all daily branch operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Oversees cash management, vault/ATM/ITM operations, and balancing processes, while maintaining branch safety and security. Evaluates operational procedures, recommend improvements, and keep the Vice President of Operations informed of branch performance and key influencing factors. Ensure high quality member service by resolving inquiries and complaints effectively, promoting credit union products and services that meet member needs, and cultivating lasting relationships based on trust and financial education. Monitor work quality across the branch, including but not limited to error corrections, adjustments, file maintenance, cash shortages/overages, and staff financial accountability.

Promotes branch compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, including BSA compliance, and adherence to safety and security programs designed to minimize fraud and operational loss. Communicates updates on regulatory, policy, or procedural changes, and facilitate training programs to ensure staff are equipped to implement operational changes effectively. Responds to findings and tasks from the Risk Management and Compliance Department, internal and external auditors, and Executive Management, implementing corrective actions as needed. Proactively identifies potential risks and operational gaps, recommending solutions to maintain a secure, compliant, and efficient branch environment.

Provides support with general loan inquiries and assists members with loan applications on an as needed basis. Ensures membership eligibility requirements are met and that lending processes comply with credit union policies and regulatory standards. Collaborates with the Loan Department when questions arise or additional assistance is required, helping members through the loan process to ensure a positive and exceptional experience.

Ensures that all reports, records, and confidential materials are properly secured in their designated locations at the end of each day. Oversees the overall maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and security of the branch, proactively addressing potential risks to protect staff, members, and assets.

Promotes and maintains good public relations with the membership, community groups, and business organizations.

Maintains adequate branch supplies and orders more as needed.


Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Requirements

Education and Experience

A high school degree or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from an accredited college and prior Supervisory or Management experience preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience in a financial institution required. Experience in lending and/or operations preferred.


Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.


Other Skills

Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Windows and Excel.


Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of local travel as driver and travel by commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.


Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private office with minimal noise.
