Job Summary:
This position is responsible for setting up and operating shop machinery to fabricate metal or wood parts for products. Examples of shop machinery include, but is not limited to, saws, CNC routers, and edge banders. Brake Press Operators must be able to read and interpret specifications for parts or products and follow verbal instructions. Brake Press Operators are assigned to a specific area in the manufacturing plant but may also work with other departments. Brake Press Operators may perform other tasks as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate shop machinery to fabricate parts and products
  • Load/unload materials onto machines
  • Complete basic maintenance and upkeep on machines
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace/shop
  • Check work through measuring tools and quality control procedures
  • Work with build documents and basic drawings

Experience and Education:
  • Minimum - High School or GED
  • Minimum - 1 - 3 months related experience and/or training

Position Requirements:
  • Knowledge of machines used for metal or wood production, such as saws, CNC routers, and edge banders
  • Mechanically inclined; ability to work with shop machinery and basic hand tools
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16th of an inch
  • Ability to add and subtract fractions
  • Communicates well with others; speaks and writes clearly; asks for and offers help when needed
  • Interpersonal; resolves questions and concerns in a professional manner; maintains confidentiality
  • Detail oriented; meets quality standards and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Organized; completes work in a timely manner; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solver; gathers and analyzes information skillfully and generates suggestions for improving work
  • Capable of working independently and as a member of a team; contributes to building a positive team spirit
  • Observes and follows safety procedures
