Job Summary
The Bowdoin Store Associate works as part of the Bowdoin Store team to provide excellent customer service. This role plays a part in the successful operation of the Bowdoin Store through the point of sale; customer assistance; keeping the store neat, clean, and attractive; assistance with receiving, stocking, merchandising, web sales, and all other areas of the operation as needed.
Compensation
- The rate of pay for this position is $18.00/hr
- This is a casual, part-time, non-benefit eligible position working less than 19 hours/week.
Education/Skills Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
- Applicants must demonstrate superior customer service and communication skills and have a friendly, helpful, outgoing demeanor.
- Candidates must be self-starters who are productive during slow business periods and can work at a quick and efficient pace when it is busy.
- Applicants must be flexible, dependable, punctual and courteous.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Experience with point of sale systems is preferred.
- Bowdoin Store employees are expected to be well groomed and meet department standards for professional attire.
- This role will require a pre-placement physical and criminal background check.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
- Previous experience in retail operations, especially in a college environment, is very helpful.

Standard Work Days and Hours
This is a non-benefits eligible, part-time position working between 10 and 19 hours a week. Schedules will be based on the needs of the operation. The schedule during the school year will include Friday (8:30 am-5:00 pm) and Saturday (11:00 am-4:00 pm). The store is only open on Saturdays while classes are in session, so the summer schedule will be negotiable. Will be asked to work additional hours during all major College events such as Arrival Day, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Admitted Students Open House, Commencement, and Reunion.
