Summary Description

The Irrigation Crew Leader is a skilled professional responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of irrigation systems, leading a team in the process. This role involves not only performing advanced irrigation work but also guiding and training other crew members, managing materials and equipment, and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of water for various purposes, such as landscaping, agriculture, or turf management.

JobDutiesandResponsibilities(EssentialFunctions):

  • Team Leadership and Supervision:Guiding, training, and scheduling irrigation personnel; performing the work of an irrigation specialist while supervising a crew.

  • System Installation and Repair:Overseeing the installation, maintenance, replacement, and repair of manual and automatic irrigation systems, including pipes, fittings, valves, controllers, and related equipment.

  • Technical Expertise:Providing advanced technicalexpertisein irrigation system design, operation, and troubleshooting; interpreting blueprints and construction plans.

  • Material and Inventory Management:Estimating and requisitioning materials, supplies, and equipment;establishinginventory control procedures.

  • Quality Control and Efficiency:Inspecting and auditing irrigation systems to ensure they meet specifications and function correctly; implementing water conservation programs.

  • Record Keeping:Recording time, labor, and material costs;maintainingrecords of irrigation operations.

  • Safety and Compliance:Ensuring the safety of teammembers;securing permits for waterconnections, andmonitoring compliance with regulations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Technical Proficiency:Strong knowledge of irrigation system design, installation, maintenance, and repair techniques; experience withvarious typesof irrigation systems (drip, overhead, automatic).

  • Problem-Solving:Ability to troubleshoot and resolve irrigation issues efficiently.

  • Leadership and Communication:Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders; ability to provide clear instructions and guidance.

  • Physical Stamina:Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various outdoor environments, including heavy lifting, climbing, and working in adverse weather conditions.

Level Requirements:

Typically requires a high school diploma or GED, with relevant experience in irrigation and potentially certifications in turf management or related fields
