Holman Automotive has an outstanding opportunity for a Dealership Accountant I to join our team in Raleigh/Cary, NC! This newly created role will help expand accounting capacity and strengthen our ability to partner with operations in supporting dealership performance and financial accuracy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process routine dealership transactions, including cash receipts, deposits, dealership-related postings, journal vouchers, and related supporting documentation.

  • Gather, organize, and maintain support for dealership-prepared reconciliations and assigned accounting activity.

  • Perform deal review and validation support, posting support, and follow-up on routine transaction questions or missing documentation.

  • Post and review routine wholesale activity, vehicle purchases, and inventory-related transactions in accordance with defined processes.

  • Process refunds, check requests, and workflow items accurately and timely.

  • Respond to routine inquiries from dealership teams and provide backup support across accounting functions as needed.

  • Applies foundational accounting principles to determine appropriate transaction treatment and supporting documentation requirements.

  • Develops understanding of how dealership transactions impact financial statements and account balances.

  • Prepare assigned schedules and reconciliations with appropriate support and investigate routine variances.

  • Owns foundational dealership accounting activities, reconciliations, and month-end support.

  • Exercises accounting judgment within established processes.

  • Maintains accounting records and supporting documentation that are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

  • Begins developing expertise across dealership accounting functions.

  • Identifies and escalates issues that could impact financial reporting, reconciliation integrity, or close readiness.

  • Perform all other duties as required.

What are we looking for?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or basic training in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related field preferred for entry into the role.

  • Foundational understanding and experience with application of accounting principles, including debits/credits, general ledger activity, documentation standards, and transaction posting.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, reliability, and ability to follow established processes and deadlines.

  • Ability to use standard office applications and accounting systems to enter, review, and organize information accurately.

  • Early-career accounting professional with approximately 1-3 years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, or dealership accounting experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of general ledger activity, reconciliations, accounting controls, and documentation requirements.

  • Ability to independently manage assigned accounting responsibilities and identify issues requiring escalation.

Compensation: $24 - $31/hour (depending on experience)
