Salary: Up to $65,000/year
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Full-Charge Bookkeeper on behalf of a professional association in the Madison area. This is a direct-hire opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, solving problems, and taking ownership of financial operations. The organization is undergoing a period of financial cleanup and process improvement, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly organized, self-directed, and experienced with QuickBooks Desktop. The ideal candidate will play a key role in strengthening accounting procedures and supporting the organization's continued growth.
Pay: Up to $65,000/year, based on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform bookkeeping and accounting functions using QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Assist with financial record cleanup and reconciliation projects.
  • Balance accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Review Excel spreadsheets for errors, discrepancies, and missing information.
  • Process check payments and prepare checks as needed.
  • Maintain organized financial and paper records.
  • Develop and document accounting procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communicate proactively regarding issues, discrepancies, and project progress.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience required.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with account reconciliations and financial record cleanup.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
