Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced, detail-oriented accounting professional - ideally a CPA - to support multiple small business entities owned by a single individual. This is a flexible, part-time role focused on bookkeeping, financial reporting, and light Controller-level responsibilities. The entities have relatively low transaction volume but require careful attention due to inter-company activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date books for multiple entities
  • Record and reconcile transactions, including bank and credit card accounts
  • Manager and track inter-company transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Prepare monthly and/or quarterly financial statements
  • Assist with cash flow tracking and basic financial analysis
  • Support insurance coordination, including tracking policies, renewals, and coverage needs
  • Assist with general day-to-day financial operations and administrative tasks as needed
  • Coordinate with external CPA/Tax Preparer to ensure accurate and timely filings
  • Provide occasional guidance on accounting best practices and internal processes

Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred (active or inactive/retired)
  • 10+ years of accountings experience including bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
  • Prior experience in a Controller or similar role
  • Strong understanding of inter-company accounting
  • Experience working with multiple entities or closely-held businesses
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manager time effectively in a part-time capacity

Work Arrangement

  • Part-time, not to exceed 40 hours per month
  • Remote work with a weekly in-person meeting with the Owner (Louisville, KY area)
  • Ongoing, long-term support role
  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience
