Position Summary
The Direct Loan Booking Specialist Lead serves as a senior subject matter expert in the loan booking process for consumer, residential, and commercial loans. This position ensures the accurate setup and maintenance of loan accounts within the bank's core systems while providing day-to-day guidance, training, and operational support to teammates. The role works closely with lending, relationship management, and operations teams to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily loan booking activities and assist with workflow prioritization.
  • Review loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to loan booking.
  • Ensure new loans, modifications, and renewals are accurately entered into the bank's loan servicing systems.
  • Monitor workflow queues and assist in balancing workloads across the team.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and help resolve complex loan booking issues.
  • Research and correct loan setup discrepancies and exceptions.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for operational questions and provide guidance to loan booking specialists and lending staff.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members on loan products, procedures, and system functionality.
  • Share knowledge and best practices to support team performance and consistency.
  • Maintain departmental procedures and process documentation.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with the implementation of new loan products and system enhancements.
  • Generate operational reports and track key performance metrics.
  • Ensure collateral securing loans is properly documented, perfected, and maintained, including titles, deeds of trust, UCC filings, certificates of deposit (CDs), and other pledged assets, in accordance with loan documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize the Lereta platform to track and report delinquent property taxes at both city and county levels.
  • Support internal audits, examinations, and regulatory reviews.
  • Escalate operational, compliance, or personnel concerns to management as appropriate.
  • Lead or facilitate team huddles and communicate operational updates, procedural changes, and priorities.

Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in loan booking, loan administration, or loan operations.
  • Experience providing work direction or lead support to team members preferred.
  • Experience with commercial, consumer, and real estate lending products.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of loan documentation and loan servicing processes.
  • Familiarity with core banking and loan servicing systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Ability to provide guidance, training, and support to teammates in a lead capacity.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced banking environment.
  • Working knowledge of collateral documentation, perfection requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
