Duties
Help
You will serve as a Boiler Plant Operator and be responsible for performing preventative and routine maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions, performing tests, and analyzing results on a variety of equipment.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Operating dual fuel boiler, natural gas/#2 fuel fired boilers.
  • Taking established pressure and temperature readings, operating pumps, burners and manual or automatic controls to supply 90 PSI steam pressure.
  • Making scheduled and unscheduled rounds, checking condensate systems, feed pump systems, fuel oil system, chemical feed systems, air systems, and water in emulsifier systems.
  • Making frequent checks of water levels, water temperatures, fuel oil temperatures, and burner operation.
  • Repairing and maintaining large air conditioning systems that perform a variety of functions.
  • Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment.
