Job description

The Boiler Startup Technician is responsible for the installation support, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance testing of commercial and industrial boiler systems. This role ensures boiler equipment operates safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements. The technician works closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and customers during system startup and turnover.

Our company specializes in boiler and boiler-related equipment sales, service, and repair, with offices in Georgia and Tennessee. Below is a list of the duties, responsibilities, and required qualifications necessary to be considered for employment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform startup and commissioning of commercial and industrial boiler systems
  • Inspect boiler installations to ensure compliance with codes, specifications, and safety standards
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, gas, combustion, and control system issues
  • Conduct operational testing, combustion analysis, and system performance verification
  • Adjust burners, controls, pumps, valves, and related boiler components
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, piping schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Complete startup reports, service documentation, and commissioning checklists
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and operators
  • Coordinate with contractors, service teams, and engineering staff during project startup
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and service vehicles
  • Follow OSHA, NFPA, and company safety procedures at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical school training or HVAC/boiler certification preferred
  • Experience with commercial or industrial boiler systems
  • Knowledge of combustion systems, burners, controls, and hydronic systems
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and piping diagrams
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with low-pressure and high-pressure boiler systems
  • Familiarity with PLC controls and building automation systems
  • OSHA 10/30 certification
  • Boiler operator or burner technician certifications
Physical amp; Personal Requirements
  1. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. from floor to waist and from waist to overhead
  2. Ability to climb and use ladders, forklifts, and scissor lifts
  3. Ability to stand for extended periods (6+ hours per day)
  4. Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot and cold environments)
  5. Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule
  6. Ability to successfully pass a drug test and background check
  7. Organized, efficient, and adaptable to change
  8. Ability to work independently with reliable attendance
  9. Strong communication and customer service skills
  10. Problem-solving mindset with a “can-do” attitude
