BASIC FUNCTIONS|

The Third Engineer (Boiler Operator) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of the vesselโ€™s or facility's boilers and associated systems. This role ensures that all equipment is operating efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |

Position also includes, but is not limited to the following:

Operation and Monitoring:
  • Operate and monitor boilers, feed water systems, fuel systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain proper pressure and temperature levels as per operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular checks and inspections to ensure the safe operation of all machinery.
  • Train mechanics and certify them to become boiler operators.
Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of boilers and associated systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are documented and reported as per company policies.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations pertaining to boiler operations.
  • Participate in safety drills and emergency response activities.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including emissions control and waste management.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
  • Report any abnormalities or incidents to the Chief Engineer or relevant supervisor.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and documentation for regulatory inspections.
Collaboration and Training:
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering staff to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior engineering personnel.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and stay updated with industry best practices.

  • Shift work including nights, weekends and Holidays may be required.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in boiler operations and maintenance.
  • Experience with high-pressure emergency situations.
  • Valid Third Engineer (Boiler Operator) certification as per local or I
  • Standards of Training, Certification and watchkeeping.
