Job description

Job Title: Truck Body Operations Manager

Department: Body Operations

Reports To: Body General Manager


Develops and grows the Truck Body department through strong relationships with insurance adjusters, customers, and referral sources to ensure consistent sales volume and profitability. Responsible for achieving departmental financial goals, maintaining high customer satisfaction, and controlling operational expenses. Directs and oversees all body shop operations, ensuring timely, high-quality repairs while maintaining safety, compliance, and productivity standards. Leads, motivates, and develops technicians and staff to ensure efficient workflow and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Hire, train, motivate, and supervise Truck Body employees
  • Ensure high-quality service and operational efficiency
  • Write accurate estimates and supplements using approved systems
  • Monitor workflow, repair progress, and completion timelines
  • Perform quality control inspections before vehicle release
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and safety regulations
  • Manage schedules, productivity, and technician performance
  • Build relationships with insurance adjusters and customers
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and promptly
  • Manage billing, documentation, and accounts receivable
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment and facility cleanliness
  • Track and improve KPIs such as cycle time and profitability
  • Prepare and review departmental financial performance
  • Support a safe, team-oriented, and high-performance culture


Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Collision Repair & Refinishing, Collision Repair Technology, Automotive, or Diesel Technician degree or related field preferred OR szequivalent experience (degree not required)
  • Experience managing body shop or collision operations
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Financial and operational management experience
  • Knowledge of estimating systems (Mitchell, CCC, etc.)
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license
