Job description

Family Nurse Practitioner (Urgent Care)

Full-Time | Syracuse, NY Area (Liverpool, Cicero, or Camillus)
Shift Scheduling: 12-hour shifts | Shift times range between 7:00 AM - 11:30 PM
Rotating weekend availability required


Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in a high-volume urgent care setting

  • Perform urgent care procedures including suturing, incision & drainage, splinting/immobilization, and foreign body removal

  • Manage acute medical conditions such as respiratory emergencies, allergic reactions, and anaphylaxis

  • Interpret EKGs and X-rays to support timely clinical decision-making

  • Conduct DOT/19A exams when required

  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care

  • Collaborate with clinical staff, nurses, paramedics, lab, and front desk to maintain efficient patient flow and high-quality care delivery

  • Set the tone for the shift by modeling positivity, clear communication, and team-oriented problem solving

  • Help patients avoid unnecessary ER visits whenever safe and appropriate

  • Maintain accurate, compliant clinical documentation in the EHR


Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)

  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or relevant NP certification

  • Active, unrestricted New York NP license

  • DEA license and NPI number required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, critical care, or other high-volume/high-acuity settings

  • Strong proficiency in urgent care procedures (sutures, I&D, splinting, foreign body removal, etc.)

  • Comfortable working autonomously with physician support available

  • Experience with high-volume patient flow and urgent care methodologies
