Job description

Summary
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding attitude and be motivated to ensure the member, guest, and passenger experience are above expectations while always keeping safety awareness in mind. This individual must have a passion to serve and be flexible with the constant day to day activities that arise. He or she must be safety conscience, adaptable and provide local knowledge while operating water taxi vessel. They will be qualified, confident, and experienced in running a 26', 24 passenger, 7 ton, inboard, launch style water taxi within Lake Boca, the ICW and around heavy vessel traffic.
Essential Functions
Job duties include, although are not limited to:
  • Begins daily operating schedule on time
  • Operates 26' Duffy Launch water taxi vessels safely and in accordance with coast guard regulations
  • Ensures that the mate properly assists guests while boarding and disembarking.
  • Ensures guest capacity aboard vessel is safe and comfortable, assists and prioritizes any guest traveling with special needs
  • Scans waterway while boat is at the dock, making sure that no guests board or disembark during Wake" period of passing vessels.
  • Scans Water while underway, avoiding floating debris, swimmers, and manatees.
  • Follows all Federal, State, and Local laws pertaining to safety and "Rules of the road"
  • Yields "Right of Way" to all boats When oncoming vessel Captain's skills are in doubt while approaching Boca Inlet Bridge.
  • Maintains proper VHF radio responsiveness and etiquette
  • In collusion with Dockmaster, performs, oversees, or ensures that all regularly scheduled, necessary, and emergency maintenance is completed timely and correctly
  • Maintains logs and records in accordance with Dockmaster and USCG directives
  • Oversees, prepares vessels for, and ensures vessels stay current on all USCG inspections
  • Always operates the vessel in a safe and professional manner.
  • Reports any and all damage and/or loss to Dockmaster immediately
  • Provides excellent customer service and, when appropriate, interacts with guests in accordance to The Boca Raton standards
  • End of shift secure and clean boats, remove any trash. Drop off daily checklist and return keys to the north gate security.
  • Any other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as directed by Dockmaster

Internal Relationships
Reports to Dockmaster and works alongside Assistant Dockmaster.
External Relationships
Has regular contact with with guests and members of the resort, GM of Beachclub, GM of Yacht Club, GM of Tower Hotel.
Qualifications
  • Must possess USCG Merchant Mariner Credential: Master, minimum 25 Tons

Education/Experience Requirements
  • Be Drugfree and prepared to enter consortium
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have minimum 2 years' experience commanding inspected passenger vessels in either, inshore, near shore, or offshore operation.

Physical Requirements
Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
