ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

At Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL), elite performance begins with precision - and the BMW GTP program is no exception. We are developing a pipeline of experienced race mechanics for future roles within our IMSA program. If you're a skilled technician interested in joining one of North America's premier hybrid prototype teams, this is your invitation to be considered as new positions become available.
 

By joining our IMSA Mechanic Talent Pool, we will evaluate your profile for upcoming opportunities as we expand, evolve, and enhance our GTP program.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

When opportunities arise, our mechanics take on essential responsibilities that include:  

  • Assemble, maintain, and prepare GTP race cars and backup vehicles to RLL and manufacturer standards.
  • Install engines, gearboxes, suspension systems, fuel and cooling systems, and related components.
  • Support chassis setup and adjustments according to build/setup sheets and team engineering guidance.
  • Ensure a safety-first approach across all shop and trackside tasks.
  • Travel to IMSA races, tests, and team events (25+ per year).
  • Load/unload equipment and assist with garage and paddock setup and teardown.
  • Use the appropriate mechanical and measurement tools (calipers, Zyglo, Magnaflux, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean, professional workspace and organized tool inventory.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

We're looking for mechanics who offer:  

  • Over 5 years of professional race mechanic experience (IMSA, WEC, IndyCar, or similar) 
  • Preferred hands-on experience with hybrid or GTP-class systems 
  • Proficient in vehicle setup and race car systems (engine, gearbox, drivetrain, cooling, fuel, suspension) 
  • Competent with chassis build sheets, setup pads, and interpretation of rule books 
  • Familiar with hand and shop tools, including mill, lathe, press, drill press, welder, etc. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a team environment 
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills 
  • Willingness and availability for extensive travel
