Job Description
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Architect to join our Strategic Operations Project Team that is chartered to transition AFDW ITSM BMC Helix to ServiceNow. The ServiceNow Architect plays a vital, strategic role in advancing the IT Service Management (ITSM) modernization efforts for the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and the broader Department of the Air Force (DAF). As the technical authority for the ServiceNow platform, you will serve as the linchpin for transforming legacy IT operations into a modern, automated, and secure enterprise service delivery model. By designing, governing, and scaling business-aligned platform solutions, this role directly enhances AFDW and DAF operational efficiency, reduces capability delivery timelines, and ensures that IT infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and fully aligned with global warfighting and mission-support objectives.

The Challenge:

  • Designs, governs, and implements scalable, secure, and business-aligned solutions on the ServiceNow platform, ensuring operational efficiency and strategic alignment across IT and business workflows.
  • Designing, engineering and configuring ServiceNow to automate internal information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes.
  • Assist with technical design, documentation, and migration of changes to production environments.
  • Architects, develops, integrates, and implements ServiceNow solutions.
  • Designs, codes, debug, documents, deploys and maintains solutions in a highly efficient and effective manner.
  • Participates in design review, user requirements sessions and development teams to deliver features and capabilities supporting automation initiatives.
  • Reviews and apply requirements from external and internal teams and align into ServiceNow development.
  • Partners closely with the business and IT teams gather input to support ongoing business needs for ServiceNow configuration, implementation, and support.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • A strong background of ServiceNow development and experienced in the design and implementation of ServiceNow security architecture.
  • Certifications such as ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, Certified Implementation Specialist, ITIL Foundation, and optionally Enterprise Architecture or advanced ServiceNow certifications.
  • ServiceNow platform engineering (cloud) with TPSM Modules including Service Request, Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management and security / regulatory disciplines.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to talk on a process level with clients and manage the direction of a distributed development team.
  • Experience of significant cloud hosted Service Now implementations which span TPSM and security / regulatory disciplines.
  • Experienced in Common Service Data Model (CSDM) for structuring database mappings.
  • Experience in designing Application Programming Interface (API) frameworks to move data into and out of ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of AI integration within ServiceNow, including Now Assist and AI Agents.
  • Experience with optimizing ServiceNow table structures and data models.
  • Proven experience in large-scale ServiceNow implementations and platform governance.

  • Master's degree in IT or a related field.
  • Certified Application Developer.
  • ITIL v4 Foundations Certification.
  • BMC Helix or BMC Remedy experience.
