Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Systems Architect, SME (MBSE) position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating model-based systems engineering (MBSE) solutions within the BMC3I Elite platform. This role supports digital engineering transformation by enabling model-driven workflows, architecture alignment, systems visualization, and data integration across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in MBSE tools and methods, digital engineering frameworks, enterprise architecture, and the ability to apply these within the BMC3I Elite environment. This individual partners with engineering teams, program managers, IT stakeholders, and enterprise architects to deliver scalable digital solutions that streamline lifecycle processes and improve decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
The Systems Architect, SME will:
  • Design and implement MBSE-driven architectures, workflows, and models to support enterprise digital engineering initiatives
  • Integrate MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody) with BMC3I Elite/Helix for synchronized life cycle and configuration management
  • Develop system models, digital threads, and integration patterns that enhance traceability across requirements, design, testing, and sustainment
  • Configure and optimize BMC3I Elite modules to support digital engineering, data flow automation, and architecture visualization
  • Create dashboards, model-driven workflows, and decision-support tools within the BMC platform
  • Support enhancements, customizations, and integrations that improve MBSE adoption and usability
  • Align MBSE architectures with life cycle processes, including requirements, risk, configuration, testing, and verification
  • Ensure digital engineering outputs integrate with program management, acquisition, and ITSM workflows
  • Facilitate model governance, version control, and data consistency across engineering teams
  • Work with program managers, system engineers, solution architects, and leadership to translate digital engineering needs into actionable technical solutions
  • Support architectural reviews, technical analyses, and enterprise-level integration forums
  • Provide subject matter expertise on MBSE standards, digital threads, and emerging engineering technologies
  • Recommend strategies to modernize engineering practices through automation, analytics, and advanced modeling capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, speed, and process efficiency through MBSE and BMC3I Elite capabilities
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, modeling standards, and architecture guidelines

Requirements
Skills & Experience
The Systems Architect, SME must have:
  • Active TS/SCI with SAP Access
  • 15+ years in systems engineering, digital engineering, solutions architecture, or MBSE roles
  • Hands-on experience with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Sparx EA)
  • Strong understanding of digital engineering frameworks, SysML, UML, DoDAF/MODAF, or UAF
  • Experience integrating MBSE solutions with BMC3I Elite, BMC Helix, or similar enterprise platforms
  • Knowledge of life cycle systems engineering processes, requirements management, and digital thread concepts
  • Proficiency in workflow automation, data modeling, system integration, and architecture visualization
  • Experience designing enterprise-level digital solutions and integrating multiple technical systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex models into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, IT, and program management teams

Education & Certifications
The Systems Architect, SME must meet the following:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Architecture, or Digital Engineering
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP/ESEP
  • SysML or MBSE Practitioner Certification (e.g., OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional)
  • DAU Digital Engineering or Systems Engineering credentials
  • ITIL v4 Foundation
  • BMC Elite/BMC Helix certification or training
  • SAFe Agilist or Architect Certification

Security Clearance

Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
