The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in an office building. The position involves performing general cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and restocking supplies in restrooms and common areas. The position ensures that all assigned areas are cleaned to a high standard and helps support a safe, professional, and welcoming workplace for employees, customers, and visitors.

Compensation
$16.96- $21.20
Non-Exempt Grade 9
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.

What you'll do
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and surface disinfection throughout the office building
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies, and ensure all areas are tidy and well-maintained
  • Empty and sanitize trash and recycling containers; transport waste to designated disposal areas
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, and entryways as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness in shared spaces such as lobbies, elevators, kitchens, and conference rooms
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning and restroom supplies as needed
  • Operate basic cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor buffers, etc.) safely and efficiently
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Good communication skills and a customer service mindset
  • Basic knowledge of proper use of cleaning supplies and operation of equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

What you need
Education and Experience:
  • GED or vocational training in commercial housekeeping preferred.
  • One year previous work related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and other potentially hazardous materials
