Job description

Objective / Purpose
The purpose of the Quality Technician is to conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects, analyze data to improve product quality, maintain our quality database and work closely with the manufacturing team to improve quality standards and development of plastic materials and products. Our ideal candidate has proven experience in quality control and a keen eye for detail. Ultimately, the role of the Quality Technician is to ensure that our products, materials, and processes meet the established quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in the plastics industry.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.
  • Conduct routine tests and experiments on plastic materials and products.
  • Prepare samples for testing and ensure proper documentation of results.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of plastic formulations and processes.
  • Record and analyze data and prepare reports on findings.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and support various research and development projects.
  • Maintain the lab and related equipment in a neat and organized manner.
  • Communicate with management on a consistent basis test and record all material samples, raw materials, blends, and finished goods.
  • Maintain sample containers ensuring all samples are logged timely, accurately and are efficiently performed.
  • Ensure that all sampling equipment is working within manufacturers specifications.
  • Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations.
  • Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records.
  • Teach the production team about quality control concerns to improve product excellence.
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize statistical quality data for improvement purposes.
  • Ensure safety regulations and industry standards are met to maintain an optimal working environment.
  • Uphold the Blue Polymers Code of Conduct standards and be aware of the management policy and objectives.
  • Maintain company safety, housekeeping and environmental procedures.
  • Other functions as assigned by Quality Manager.

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Ability to manage time, organize, and set priorities.
  3. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  4. Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and equipment.
  5. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  9. Competent written and oral communication skills.
  10. Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, moisture, and dirty environments.
  11. Knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards.
  12. Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods.
  13. Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9001 etc.).
