Description & Requirements
Who We Are
The CMS Platforms team builds and maintains the digital experiences that power Bloomberg's marketing ecosystem. We support a diverse portfolio of 200+ websites that showcase Bloomberg's products, services, and brand initiatives while enabling marketers and content creators to move quickly and effectively to our global audience.
Our team focuses on creating scalable, high-performing web platforms that balance engineering excellence with business impact. We partner closely with marketing, design, product, and analytics teams to deliver experiences that are fast, reliable, accessible, and optimized for growth.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior WordPress Engineer to help evolve Bloomberg's marketing web platform and digital experiences. In this role, you will design and develop modern WordPress solutions with a strong focus on Gutenberg, React, performance, and content authoring experiences.
You will work closely with marketers, designers, and engineers to build reusable components, improve site performance, and enable teams to launch campaigns and content efficiently. This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, product thinking, and an understanding of how websites support business and marketing objectives.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for an engineer who enjoys building scalable content platforms and takes pride in delivering polished user experiences. You should be comfortable working across the full web stack, collaborating with non-technical stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to improve both the platform and the development process.
We'll Trust You To
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable WordPress solutions that support Bloomberg's marketing initiatives.
  • Develop reusable Gutenberg components and editor experiences using React and modern JavaScrip / Typescript.
  • Partner with design and marketing teams to translate requirements into responsive, accessible, and high-performing web experiences.
  • Improve website performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and technical SEO.
  • Contribute to platform architecture, development standards, testing, and deployment practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve reliability and maintainability across the platform.
You'll Need To Have
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining WordPress applications and websites.
  • Strong experience with Gutenberg block development and React.
  • Proficiency with PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, product, and marketing stakeholders.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

We'd Love To See
  • Familiarity with ReactJS or other modern frontend frameworks.
  • Experience with analytics, experimentation, and marketing technologies such as GA4 and Optimizely.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern development workflows.
  • Demonstrated ownership of business-critical web products and the ability to drive initiatives from concept to delivery.
