Job description


Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of medical technologist, begin blood transfusions, and perform limited number of routine, repetitive, clearly defined analyses for which the individual has demonstrated proficiency. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Transfuse blood and blood components under the supervision of a medical technologist, according to established protocol, and including all patient identification and documentation requirements. Respond to requirements of the workload.
  • Follow established procedures for infection control and safety.
  • Perform routine technical procedures, including preparation of blood and blood components for transfusion, under supervision of a medical technologist according to AABB standards.
  • Perform quality control procedures on reagents and equipment according to established protocol.
  • Collect blood specimens.
  • Assist in instruction of Medical Technology students and new employees in routine procedural techniques, as assigned.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competency.
