Full-time Lab Supervisor - Blood Bank
Rotating Campuses: Voorhees, Marlton, Willingboro
  • Supervises the daily operations of the general lab or specialty area to include, outstanding customer service, staffing, scheduling, and workflow. Supports and provides technical expertise in analyzing, interpreting and validating laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological materials such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers. Assists manager in clinical and administrative departmental functions. Communicates customer specific clinical instructions as required to ensure specimen integrity.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
    • Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
    • Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
    • Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
    • Supports department operations in staff scheduling, training, competency, procedure drafts, and evaluation of new products.
    • Supervises daily workflow of the department, identifies and implements improvement opportunities that contribute to the betterment of the workstation, section, or overall operation.
    • Provides Outstanding Customer Service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrates, coaches and provides technical expertise to staff, students and trainees.
    • Liaison between staff and manager.
    • Assumes responsibility in the absence of Manager or Director. Review, evaluates quality control, proficiency, and competency.
    • Oversees the development and implementation of procedures and their changes.
    • Acts a resource to all hospital departments on behalf of the corporate Laboratory.

    Required Experience:
    At least three years as a medical lab technician/medical technologist in specified discipline.
    Good Interpersonal and time management skills.
    Demonstrated leadership ability.
    Required Education:
    Minimum of associate's degree in laboratory science, biological or chemical sciences or other relevant field; bachelor's degree preferred.
    Training/Certification Licensure:
    Valid registration as a Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician or equivalent or meets CLIA '88 educational requirements for high complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.

Hourly Rate: $38.33 - $59.58 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
