Blog Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the planning, creation, publication, and promotion of blog content for a website or organization. They coordinate with writers, editors, and marketing teams to ensure content aligns with overall business goals and engages the target audience. Blog Managers also analyze performance metrics, optimize content for SEO, and implement strategies to grow readership and engagement. Their role combines content strategy, team management, editorial oversight, and digital marketing skills.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a blog manager?

To excel as a Blog Manager, you need expertise in content strategy, SEO, digital marketing, and strong written communication, often backed by a degree in communications, marketing, or journalism. Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, analytics tools such as Google Analytics, and basic HTML/CSS is typically required. Exceptional organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to lead and collaborate with writers and designers help individuals stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for driving engagement, maintaining a consistent brand voice, and ensuring the blog achieves business objectives.

How does a blog manager typically collaborate with writers, editors, and marketing teams to ensure content aligns with brand goals?

A Blog Manager serves as the central coordinator between writers, editors, and marketing teams to ensure all content is consistent with brand messaging and strategic goals. They regularly hold planning meetings, assign topics, and provide editorial guidance to writers while working closely with editors for quality control. Additionally, Blog Managers collaborate with marketing teams to align blog content with broader campaigns, SEO strategies, and audience engagement initiatives. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for producing cohesive, impactful content that drives traffic and supports organizational objectives.

Job description

Job Description
Job Summary:
The Growth Marketing Manager owns Blossom's lead generation engine and digital presence end to end, working AI-natively. This role is centered on growth, with marketing as a supporting function. The core responsibility is to build a measurable, trackable pipeline of qualified leads by systematically reaching every credit union in the country, then expanding into adjacent businesses across Blossom's market - pursuing both net-new prospects and expansion within our existing customer base, spanning B2B (B2FI) sales to institutions and B2B2C outreach to the member-facing products those institutions offer their own customers. This role owns the full digital marketing and revenue-operations stack - LinkedIn, social, rev ops, SEO, GEO, content, paid, email, website, and analytics. It requires fluency in AI marketing tools and agentic workflows, along with a strong understanding of how to optimize visibility across both traditional search engines and AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini). The role is evaluated on how effectively campaigns generate leads and move pipeline forward, with day-to-day responsibilities including creating content, building workflows, shipping campaigns, and iterating against pipeline outcomes - all delivered to a high standard of excellence, polished and publish-ready.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Support the recruitment and onboarding of marketing staff; provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to any direct reports within the function.
• Manage relationships with freelance writers, designers, or agencies as needed.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
• Build and own Blossom's lead generation engine end to end, delivering a measurable, trackable pipeline of qualified leads from both net-new prospects and expansion opportunities within Blossom's existing customer base.
• Systematically reach every credit union in the United States, then expand outreach and campaigns to other businesses within Blossom's addressable market.
• Drive lead generation across both sides of Blossom's business: B2B (B2FI) sales to credit unions, banks, and other institutions, and B2B2C outreach for the member-facing products those institutions offer their own customers.
• Drive top-of-funnel demand generation through integrated campaigns, landing pages, gated content, and nurture flows tracked in HubSpot.
• Own core revenue operations for marketing: lead scoring and routing, pipeline and funnel reporting, and CRM data integrity, ensuring a clean handoff of qualified leads to sales.
• Deploy and manage AI marketing tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, HubSpot AI, Perplexity) and agentic workflows - including automated lead nurturing, AI-powered content pipelines, and multi-step campaign automations - to build and continuously improve systems that allow one person to produce the output of a full team.
• Stay current on emerging AI marketing tools and proactively bring recommendations and test results to the team.
• Own Blossom's LinkedIn presence end to end: company page management, organic content calendar, employee advocacy programs, and paid LinkedIn campaigns targeting credit union decision-makers.
• Manage and grow social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and others) with a consistent brand voice and platform-specific content strategy.
• Implement Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies to ensure Blossom surfaces in AI-generated answers on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and similar platforms.
• Optimize all content for AI discoverability: structured data markup, E-E-A-T signals, authoritative sourcing, and conversational query alignment.
• Conduct keyword research and on-page SEO optimization; oversee technical SEO basics in coordination with the engineering team.
• Plan and produce a consistent content calendar: blog posts, thought leadership articles, case studies, whitepapers, and email newsletters tailored to credit union and fintech audiences.
• Repurpose long-form content into social snippets, email campaigns, short-form video scripts, and other channel-specific assets.
• Own and maintain the editorial calendar for the blog; write, publish, and distribute content aligned to credit union and fintech audiences.
• Build and manage email marketing campaigns and automated drip sequences in HubSpot; A/B test subject lines, content, and CTAs.
• Plan, manage, and execute paid advertising and performance marketing across channels; test creative and targeting, read the data, and reallocate budget to maximize pipeline contribution.
• Own blossom.net and all of its content end to end as part of the growth marketing function: page updates, copywriting, conversion optimization, SEO, new page builds, and performance monitoring; ensure the site always reflects the current state of the product.
• Own the marketing analytics dashboard: web traffic, leads, MQLs, campaign ROI, social performance, and content effectiveness; report insights to leadership.
• Set up and maintain tracking across GA4, LinkedIn Insights, HubSpot, and other platforms.
• Manage Blossom's presence and reputation on third-party review platforms (G2, Gartner Peer Insights, and similar), driving customer reviews and ratings to strengthen credibility with prospective institutions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills.
• A growth mindset with the ability to focus on generating measurable leads and pipeline with a proven track record of tying marketing activity directly to revenue outcomes.
• Working knowledge of rev ops fundamentals: lead scoring and routing, CRM/pipeline management, and marketing-to-sales handoff.
• Ability to recognize strong design, holding every deliverable to a higher standard.
• Outstanding written American English and excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce polished, audience-appropriate, publish-ready drafts for approval independently.
• Proven hands-on experience with LinkedIn marketing - both organic growth and paid campaigns.
• Demonstrated, practical use of AI marketing tools in day-to-day workflows (not just awareness); ability to show the specific automations and agents you have built.
• Strong understanding of GEO / AI visibility strategies, or strong eagerness to lead this capability from the ground up.
• Analytical mindset: comfortable building dashboards, interpreting attribution data, and presenting performance insights to leadership.
• Proficiency with HubSpot (or equivalent CRM/marketing automation platform) for email, nurturing, and reporting.
• Real performance marketing experience: you can plan, launch, and optimize paid campaigns across channels and translate the data into spend decisions.
• Fluency with CMS platforms, website management, and on-page SEO; comfortable making updates and building pages without engineering support.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and quick to learn new marketing and enterprise applications.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on B2B and B2B2C account based digital marketing experience with a demonstrated focus on lead generation and pipeline growth - for both net-new customer acquisition and expansion within an existing customer base; fintech, SaaS, or financial services strongly preferred.
• Demonstrable portfolio or work samples showing content, campaigns, and/or social media results.
• Experience marketing to credit unions, community banks, or financial institutions (preferred).
• Familiarity with agentic marketing or automation platforms such as Make, n8n, or Zapier + AI (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
