This position is primarily remote with occasional onsite travel to Washington, DC, approximately 1-2 times per month.

Job Description:

Blake Willson Group is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accounting & Compliance SME to lead financial cost adjudication and compliance analysis supporting a federal government program. The ideal candidate will have extensive accounting experience within a defense contractor or defense manufacturing environment, strong federal financial management expertise, and a CPA certification. This role requires expertise in GAAP and ASC 330, ASC 360, ASC 340-40, and ASC 606, along with the ability to deliver clear, defensible financial recommendations to government stakeholders, including the KO, Program Manager, DCMA, and legal counsel. In this position, you will also:

  • Lead monthly and quarterly cost adjudication and financial compliance reviews.
  • Evaluate cost flows, overhead pools, WBS-aligned costs, and accounting treatments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Apply GAAP and applicable ASC standards to complex financial and cost decisions.
  • Conduct forensic accounting analyses and identify potential misallocations or anomalies.
  • Develop repeatable adjudication processes that improve consistency, transparency, and auditability.
  • Prepare clear findings and recommendations for government stakeholders and program leadership.
  • Support federal financial management, audit readiness, and financial oversight activities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting, cost adjudication, and financial compliance.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, including extensive experience with a defense contractor or defense manufacturer.
  • 7+ years of experience with GAAP, ASC 330/360/340-40/606, forensic accounting, and complex cost analysis.
  • Must hold an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or certification.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting federal financial management and communicating complex financial findings to senior leadership and government stakeholders. 
  • Defense program finance experience, including financial analysis and reporting.
  • CAS/FAR familiarity, including federal cost and accounting requirements.
  • EVMS familiarity, including WBS and cost performance analysis.
  • Power BI experience, including financial reporting and data visualization.

Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
