CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Current and Active Top Secret Clearance

  • This position is a member of a System Administrator team that performs Tier 1 (Help Desk), Tier 2 (escalation) and Tier 3 (subject matter expert) support for a large 24x7 production environment.
  • The position is responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining Linux workstations and servers in support of development and operational system requirements.
  • Individual will perform installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and maintain them in accordance with established policies, procedures and agreements.
  • Additionally, this individual will ensure Linux workstations and server data integrity by auditing, evaluating and implementing and managing appropriate software solutions.  
  • Individual will monitor system backups and database archive operations; write and administer scripts for the gathering of automated system metrics; perform operational system help desk responsibilities; and providing quick, responsive solutions to development and operational issues and concerns.  
  • This individual plans COTS SW and HW upgrades to meet program milestones and coordinates with other functional groups on system upgrades and the integration of new capabilities.  
  • Specific duties include, but are not limited to:  execution of system transition procedures; support integration and planning standards and custom operational procedures as well as future deliveries and systems; work off of system anomalies and support of off-hour testing, as required.  After-hours response to a pager is periodically required.
  • This individual will be required to meet the Government required Information Assurance Workforce Enhancement Program requirements, and at a minimum the Security+ Certification at the time of employment.  
  • This individual is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Prior to employment, individual must possess a TS/SCI w/Poly security clearance.  
  • Specific qualifications this individual must meet are:  a mastery of AIX 7.x, RHEL 7.x Operating systems in systems; must have a professional knowledge/experience of IBM DS5000, HP 3PAR 7000 and HP 3PAR 8400 SAN architecture, assembly, configuration, maintenance and support, must have a working knowledge/experience of IBM TS4500 and IBM 3584 Tape libraries architecture, assembly, configuration, maintenance and support, must possess a complete mastery of IBM TSM installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting support; individual must have a working knowledge/experience of C7000 blade server, HP DL series, and HP Synergy 12000 blade server infrastructure architecture, assembly, configuration, maintenance and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perl, Korn Shell and Bash shell PKI LDAP/DNS Web servers
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Verbal and written communications skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with cloud computing is desirable (including creating and set-up of resources, hardening/patching, transitioning and maintenance of existing resources).
  • Hands-on experience with snoop, tcpdump and Wireshark for the purpose of packet analyzation (troubleshooting) is also desirable
  • Individual will be based at 1666 Aurora CO - 17699 E Steamboat, 17699 E. Steamboat Ave., Aurora, CO, but may need to support other facilities as needed.

Experience/Skills : 

  • Qualified individual must have a first-hand experience leading/supporting IBM and RedHat (RHEL) developers through troubleshooting complex Operating System problems, including IBM Power HA (High Availability) and RHEL clustering applications
  • SAN expertise to include evaluation of "need vs. implementation" of RAID levels to ensure requirements are met while maintaining effective performance
  • A thorough understanding of backups and archiving with direct experience using Tivoli Storage Manager and SBAdmin is also required
  • Individual must have Subject Matter Expertise in server configuration, installation & maintenance for both the RedHat Linux, AIX platforms and have expertise with clustering to ensure all critical resources are available, reliable and load-balanced
  • A sound knowledge of upgrading all servers & workstations including the ability to create and maintain kick start images
  • Hands-on experience with post install processing is also required
