How much do sawyer jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 15, 2026, the average hourly pay for sawyer in the United States is $18.88, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.27 and $19.47 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A sawyer, who operates sawmills or manages timber harvesting, can potentially earn $10,000 or more monthly with experience and specialized skills. High earnings often depend on the scale of operations, geographic location, and the ability to handle heavy equipment safely. Certifications in safety and equipment operation can improve earning potential.

What are some common safety challenges sawyers face on the job, and how are they addressed in a typical work environment?

Sawyers frequently encounter safety challenges such as working with heavy, high-powered saws, handling large logs or timber, and operating in noisy, dusty environments. To address these risks, employers typically provide comprehensive safety training, enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, eye and ear protection, and establish strict safety protocols around equipment use. Team members often work closely together to ensure safe handling and movement of materials, and regular maintenance of machinery is prioritized to minimize hazards. Adhering to OSHA guidelines and company policies helps sawyers maintain a safe and productive workspace.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

High-paying jobs that can pay around $2,000 a day typically include specialized roles such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, corporate lawyers, or senior executives. These positions often require advanced education, extensive experience, and sometimes certification or licensing, and they usually involve high responsibility and demanding schedules.

What job did a sawyer do?

A sawyer is a worker who cuts and processes timber or logs, often using chainsaws or sawmills. They work in forestry or lumber mills, performing tasks such as felling trees, bucking logs, and preparing wood for manufacturing. The role requires knowledge of safety procedures and equipment operation.

What Is a Sawyer?

A sawyer cuts wood or lumber using different types of saws. Their job duties typically require the use of a pit saw. The qualifications for this career include experience with cutting equipment. A sawyer may work with a variety of sizes and types of wood. Home improvement stores and the logging industry are two common places to find this job position.

What profession makes $400,000 a year?

In the context of the job title Sawyer, which typically refers to a person who cuts and gathers wood, earning $400,000 annually is uncommon. High salaries in related fields such as forestry management, logging executives, or specialized environmental consultants can reach or exceed this level, often requiring advanced skills, certifications, and extensive experience. Most sawyers earn significantly less, with top-tier management or specialized roles in related industries potentially reaching high six-figure incomes.

What are sawyers?

Sawyers are skilled workers who operate saws to cut wood, timber, or other materials. They may work in forestry, logging, sawmills, or construction, using various types of saws such as chainsaws or industrial machinery. Sawyers are responsible for safely and efficiently cutting logs to specific sizes, often following detailed measurements or plans. Their work is important in producing lumber, firewood, and other wood products, and they must adhere to strict safety standards.

Both roles are essential in construction and woodworking industries, but Sawyers specialize in cutting tasks, while Carpenters handle a wider range of building activities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sawyer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sawyer, you need expertise in operating chainsaws and other cutting equipment, a solid understanding of forestry practices, and often completion of safety training or certification courses. Attention to detail, strong physical stamina, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for ensuring safety and teamwork. These skills and qualifications are important to efficiently and safely process timber while minimizing accidents and maximizing productivity in forestry or logging operations.
