Position Summary
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Brain-Spine-Machine Interfaces laboratory directed by Dr. Amol Yadav at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The lab is housed in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering with affiliations in Neurosurgery and Neuroscience Center The laboratory focuses on translational neuro-engineering research - developing novel therapies to improve sensorimotor function disrupted by neurological disorders and injuries. The lab uses high-density neurophysiology (Neuropixels), high-density spinal stimulation, brain-spine interfaces, computational modeling, computational systems neuroscience analytical methods, awake behavior, and pre-clinical animal models as typical research tools.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will support research in sensory neuroprosthetics with a focus on rodent neurophysiology and neuromodulation applied to pre-clinical rodent models or human clinical trials. The postdoctoral research scholar will be given the opportunity to advise graduate and undergraduate students in the lab, work with collaborators on funded projects, contribute to funding proposals, and engage in additional projects of mutual interest and relevance to the laboratory's research vision.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous research and laboratory experience; Prior experience with neurophysiology, behavior, or neuromodulation in rodents/humans.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience conducting and coordinating stimulation/recording experiments in animals or humans, expertise in computational systems neuroscience, and a track record of publications relevant to the areas of expertise outlined above.
