Job Description
Job Description Summary:
Manages multiple large projects simultaneously that could include medical equipment specification gathering, ordering, and installation over several sites. Provides advanced levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support and performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, and installation.
Job Description:
Repairs, installations, inspects, troubleshoots, and calibrates equipment. Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve consistently high level of PM compliance over time (95% or greater). Prioritizes scheduled maintenance in accordance with medical equipment maintenance policy. Executes professional-level inventory assessments/audits and makes recommendations for specialty equipment purchases. Procures best value products, labor, and parts sources to minimize the total cost of service to the organization. Participates in the continuous performance improvement initiatives regarding medical equipment. Oversee the work of external contractors/vendors engaged in providing services for specialized equipment. Performs repairs on defective or malfunctioning equipment. Reviews, modifies, develops, and implements written preventive maintenance and quality assurance testing procedures. Provide assistance/guidance to other colleagues in maintaining Imaging equipment in other modalities. Periodically conform to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basis. Participate in on-call rotation and upgrade support.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives related to medical equipment use
  • Reviews FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and/or other device recall and problem notification sources to verify if any of the covered equipment falls within the problem equipment listings
  • Reviews incident reports related to equipment malfunction or misuse and takes appropriate actions to ensure patient safety
  • Attending vendor sponsored technical training service schools
  • Special projects and other duties in support of the hospital system as assigned
  • Periodically conform to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basis
  • Participates in on-call rotation and upgrade support

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems
  • Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts and specification materials to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities
  • Must be able to visit multiple business locations (Dependent on employment location)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote hospital sites and to periodically conform to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basis

Education:
  • Associate degree, or military training in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields and Specialized Imaging Training in specific supported equipment
  • Preferred: Attendance at five or more equipment-specific training courses related to the equipment specific specialty area of expertise (extensive hands-on experience may be considered equivalent to specific training courses)

Experience:
  • 5 years' progressive experience in performing direct component and/or board level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field
  • Additional training in other modalities such as CT, MRI, Cath Lab, etc.
  • Preferred: 7 years Progressive experience in performing direct component and/or board level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field
  • Preferred: Attendance at five or more equipment-specific training courses related to the equipment specific specialty area of expertise (extensive hands-on experience may be considered equivalent to specific training courses)

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Preferred: CRES - Radiology Equipment Specialist preferred
  • Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certification preferred
  • Vendor and manufacturer (OEM) repair/training certification(s) or similar credentials preferred

Additional Experience:
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)

Work Schedule and Requirements:
  • Standard support (work) hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 6:00 PM (8-hour day / split shift)
  • Shift 1: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm / Shift 2: 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
  • Some after hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required
  • Some positions may be responsible for multiple locations in the same geographic area
  • Some site-to-site travel may be required
  • Flexible work schedule required to accommodate early morning or evening repairs as needed
  • Positions participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support
  • All Biomedical and Imaging positions will be based out of 1 of the locations below

Salary Range
$44.01 to $62.71 Hourly
The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
Positions posted as annual salaries reflect an estimated amount for a 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) (i.e. 40 hour equivalent)), positions for less than 1.0 FTE will be prorated.)
