Job Description
General Description:The Biology Lab Assistant will primarily supports instructors in a biology laboratory by preparing materials for experiments, maintaining equipment, setting up workstations, cleaning up after lab sessions, and assisting students with basic techniques, all while adhering to safety protocols and ensuring the smooth running of the lab environment.
Duties and Tasks:
  • Assisting in laboratory set-ups for biology, microbiology, anatomy & physiology and ENV.
  • Storing equipment, models and supplies properly
  • Keeping labs clean and organized.
  • Manage bacterial cultures, make media, make solutions, organize weekly lab materials, keep equipment in repair, use autoclave, clean labs, and work with instructors.
  • Work some evenings and weekends.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
  • Ability to make proper chemical solutions, culture bacteria, make media, work with microscope and maintain equipment and supplies in a laboratory.
  • Ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of Biology
  • Work some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Training and/or experience in Biology or related science.
