Hours: up to 20 hours per week
Position Overview
La Sierra University is seeking creative, trend-savvy student content creators to produce engaging short-form vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat.
This role is focused exclusively on creating fast-paced, high-performing vertical content that captures authentic campus life, showcases current students, highlights our faculty and professors, and implements current educational trends on social media. Content Creators will film, edit, and publish videos designed to increase visibility, engagement, and student interest in the University.
Key Responsibilities
Short-Form Content Creation
  • Film, edit, and publish vertical video content (9:16 format only).
  • Create content that will be posted on:
    • TikTok
    • Instagram Reels
    • YouTube Shorts
    • Snapchat
  • Ensure videos are optimized for mobile viewing and platform best practices.

Trend Research & Execution
  • Monitor daily trends, viral formats, and audio across social media platforms.
  • Quickly adapt emerging trends into campus-relevant content.
  • Test new formats, hooks, and storytelling styles weekly.

Casting & Student Involvement
  • Identify and recruit students to appear in your content.
  • Coordinate simple, fast-moving shoots on campus, students, classes, and events.
  • Highlight a diverse range of student experiences, programs, and personalities

Segment Specialization
  • You will be assigned a content segment by the social media manager. You will be responsible for batch filming segments (planning, scheduling, filming), then editing those videos later:

Event Coverage
  • Capture real-time content at campus events, athletic events, and vespers.
  • Film candid moments, reactions, and behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Availability required for occasional evenings and weekend events.

Collaboration & Iteration
  • Work with the marketing team to align on content themes, priorities, and video edits.
  • Participate in weekly content training and reviews.
  • Iterate quickly based on performance data and feedback.

Weekly Expectations
Time Commitment
  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling around classes
  • Occasional nights and weekends required

Content Output
  • All content must be delivered in vertical format (9:16), error-free, and ready for publishing.

Production Metrics
  • Total number of videos you produced per week.
    • Minimum: 3 short-form videos per week
    • Goal: 5 short-form videos per week

Qualifications
  • Current La Sierra University student.
  • Strong interest in social media, content creation, or digital marketing.
  • Experience filming and editing vertical video on a smartphone or camera.
  • Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)
  • Experience with editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Instagram Edits etc.).
  • Strong understanding of hooks, pacing, and short-form storytelling.
  • Comfortable directing peers or appearing on camera.
  • Training will be provided.
