The Role

We are inviting applicants for the position of Development Scientist I to join the Custom Product Development Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of custom products for NEB customers. This role involves direct engagement with customers to deeply understand their needs and actively collaborate with various teams at NEB to develop innovative custom solutions across a broad range of product portfolios. This position offers a unique opportunity to solve customer challenges and drive the advancement of scientific research and applications.

How you'll contribute:

  • Engage directly with customers in conjunction with the NEB commercial team to gather insights, feedback, and ensure the custom products meet customer expectations and market needs.

  • Lead and contribute to the full cycle of custom product development, from evaluation of customer inquiries to commercialization.

  • Design, optimize, and validate new assays and methodologies, ensuring they meet quality and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve critical milestones and customer timelines for custom development projects.

  • Provide scientific expertise and support to customers.

  • Prepare and present reports and updates on project progress, scientific discoveries, and technical approaches to stakeholders and at scientific conferences.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. with 2+ years of relevant experience is preferred; candidates with a master's and 5+ years of relevant experience in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields will be considered.

  • Proven track record of working effectively on fast-paced projects and delivering results.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multifunctional teams.

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on quality.

  • Prior experience in product development within the biotechnology sector, with a strong focus on customer interaction is preferred.

Estimated base salary hiring range for Development Scientist I, Custom Products is $75,000-$90,000

Base salary is onecomponent of our generous total rewards compensation package. Employees are eligible to receive:

  • Annual discretionary profit-sharing bonus

  • Participation in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan "ESOP" (eligible after two full years of service)

  • Exceptional benefits package at a nominal cost to the employee including a 10% 401k match
