Job description

Description
The Director of Patient Financial Services provides strategic and operational leadership for the patient financial services and revenue cycle functions of a 350+ bed acute-care hospital and affiliated ambulatory services. This position is responsible for optimizing the organization's financial performance, cash flow, patient experience, and revenue integrity through effective oversight of hospital billing, physician/professional billing, accounts receivable, denials, collections, and revenue cycle operations.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience leading revenue cycle operations in a complex hospital environment, with strong knowledge of Epic Revenue Cycle, including Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB). Experience with Epic certification in HB and PB is highly preferred.
A key responsibility of this position is leveraging Epic automation, analytics, and reporting tools to improve revenue cycle performance and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of identifying manual processes and implementing automation within Epic to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, increase staff productivity, accelerate reimbursement, and enhance financial performance.
Strong knowledge and practical experience utilizing Epic SlicerDicer, Epic Dashboards, Epic Pulse, work queues, reporting tools, and other Epic Revenue Cycle functionality is highly desired. The Director will use these tools to identify trends, monitor performance, uncover revenue opportunities, improve workflows, and drive data-informed decision-making.
The Director partners closely with Finance, Revenue Cycle leadership, Patient Access, Health Information Management, Coding, Clinical Operations, Physician Leadership, Compliance, Information Technology, and Epic application teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and revenue optimization.
Requirements
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle or patient financial services experience.
  • Significant leadership experience within a hospital or health system environment.
  • Experience leading revenue cycle operations within a 350+ bed acute-care hospital or similarly complex healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with hospital billing, physician/professional billing, accounts receivable, denials management, and collections.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Epic Revenue Cycle.
  • Experience with both Epic Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB).
  • Demonstrated ability to use Epic tools, analytics, and reporting to improve revenue cycle performance.
  • Proven track record of automating manual revenue cycle processes within Epic.
  • Strong knowledge of Epic SlicerDicer, Epic Dashboards, Epic Pulse, work queues, and other Epic reporting/automation functionality.
  • Demonstrated success improving financial and operational performance through process improvement, Epic optimization, automation, and technology.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Epic HB and PB certification.
  • Experience implementing AI, RPA, predictive analytics, or other advanced revenue cycle technologies.
  • Experience partnering with Epic application/IT teams on revenue cycle optimization.
  • Professional certification in healthcare revenue cycle, finance, or related discipline.
