The Transportation/Logistics Coordinator is responsible for dispatching trucks, managing in-house and third-party carriers, controlling distribution routes to ensure efficient, on-time deliveries, complying with DOT regulations, and supporting the sales team's goals.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate transportation rates and services.
  • Maintain relationships and contracts with carriers.
  • Obtain and maintain the services of less-than-truckload carriers.
  • Oversee scheduling of shipments.
  • Book, track, and maintain on-time delivery of goods.
  • Ensure transit times and on-time deliveries are maintained.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery.
  • Work regularly with the Sales team to determine the immediate and future trucking needs.
  • Maintain relationships with various accounts to learn how to better handle their respective needs.
  • Maintain all transportation vendors' insurance certificates.

  • Associate's Degree or some college preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in transportation for produce or perishable food industries
  • Direct experience with routing and load planning
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational & negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions and solve problems.

The essential functions of this job require frequent sitting for prolonged periods, as well as occasional standing and walking. Sensory demands require the ability to constantly listen and speak, both in person and by phone, and to use a computer, a calculator, and standard office equipment. Specific vision acuity required by this job includes close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision when inspecting products. Physical demands include bending, stooping, and reaching above and below shoulder level to access records, as well as lifting and carrying files and documents that typically weigh less than 25 pounds, with or without assistance.
