About the Role
The Logistics Solutions Specialist serves as the day-to-day point of contact for customers, responsible for order execution, shipment monitoring, exception management, and service delivery. This role ensures clear, timely communication with customers and internal partners, maintains accountability for execution, and drives resolution of service issues as they arise.
What you'll do:
Customer Service & Order Execution
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding tender acceptance, order creation, shipment status, and service issues.
  • Ensure complete and accurate order entry via EDI, web tender, email, fax, or phone.
  • Manage daily load acceptance and provide timely updates and status reports to customers.

Transportation Solutions & Pricing
  • Receive shipment requirements and identify competitive truckload or intermodal options.
  • Utilize Matson Logistics pricing and capacity tools to evaluate market costs and availability.
  • Establish margin expectations for quotes while remaining competitive and supporting revenue growth.

Shipment Monitoring & Exception Management
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure timely execution.
  • Identify and respond to shipment disruptions such as delays, detours, damage, shortages, or equipment issues.
  • Implement contingency plans and corrective actions to minimize service impact.
  • Gather data and assist with investigations related to loss, damage, or distressed shipments.

Billing, Documentation & Accessorials
  • Review customer invoice discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Determine billable accessorial charges, secure approvals, and ensure timely invoicing.
  • Complete all required customer and internal documentation accurately and on time.

Collaboration & Business Support
  • Partner closely with Sales, Pricing, Accounting, and Planning teams to ensure alignment with customer expectations and strategy.
  • Support onboarding of new customers by documenting service requirements and execution standards.
  • Cultivate customer relationships that support repeat business and positive gross margins.
  • Solicit additional freight opportunities from existing customers.

Professionalism & Compliance
  • Escalate issues to management as appropriate.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support customer and company goals.

You have these qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; four-year degree in business or transportation strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-critical environment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and ability to accurately enter and manage transaction data.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing customer needs and workload demands.
  • Infrequent travel to customer sites as needed.

Extra credit if you have:
  • One or more years of related logistics or transportation experience preferred.

The annual salary range is posted for this position in Illinois. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
