SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Peak Adventures Bike Shop Manager, the Bicycle Technician is responsible for maintaining daily operational efficiency of the Bike Shop and setting a standard for customer service and relations by providing professional, efficient, accurate and friendly service to our customers. A Bicycle Technician is responsible for building and repairing bicycles, along with directing customers through the retail sales process. This position will also collaborate with other Peak Adventures staff as it pertains to the various areas of program operations that intersect with the Bike Shop resources. A Bicycle Technician will provide information related to Peak Adventures services and program/retail offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Safely perform job duties
โ€ข Perform a complete and thorough overhaul of a bicycle to the standards of Peak Adventures. This includes inspecting for damage/wear, overhaul of all main bearing assemblies, wheel truing, adjusting brakes and derailleurs, using parts washer to clean drive trains, check dropout alignment, resurface brake pads, lube/replace chain/cables, and install common bike accessories.
โ€ข Clearly and completely fill out bike service tags, special order tags and other retail sales documentation.
โ€ข Reliably diagnose and estimate cost of common repairs.
โ€ข Complete repairs and installations of parts and accessories in a timely manner, meeting all safety standards.
โ€ข Direct customers through the retail sales process with a high level of customer service.
โ€ข Operates the P.O.S system, processing sales, exchanges, refunds, report printing and cash register/receipt reconciliation.
โ€ข Assist in maintaining appropriate parts/bikes inventory for resale.
โ€ข Support the bike rental process by inspecting rental bicycles and other accessories.
โ€ข Maintain a clean and friendly work area including bike shop, store lobby and other inventory storage areas.
โ€ข Provide feedback to the Bike Shop Manager that aims to improve the operational efficiency and customer service.
โ€ข Attend a 6-hour Basic Bike Maintenance training.
โ€ข Assist in general customer service by answering phones, assisting with program registration and checking in/out rental gear.
โ€ข Responsible for following all store policies and procedures.
โ€ข Promote ASI and Peak Adventure mission and values.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.

โ€ข Knowledge of windows-based personal computers - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Former work experience in sales or retail
โ€ข General knowledge of outdoor programming and equipment
โ€ข Preferred 1-2 years of bike repair experience
โ€ข Retail/customer service experience
โ€ข CPR/First Aid certifications

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must:
