ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, OR PROFESSOR OF THEOLOGY, PHILOSOPHY, AND BIBLICAL LANGUAGES

Concordia University is needing an Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Theology, Philosophy, and Biblical Languages who wants to be a part of this mission. Position Purpose:
The Department of Theology, Philosophy, and Biblical Languages is seeking a full-time faculty position to begin service for the 2026/27 academic year. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, curriculum development, and service to the university. The position will be responsible for Biblical Greek instruction within the department, in addition to teaching in areas of Biblical studies within and on behalf of the Department. The candidate will be a minister of religion--ordained and in good standing on the roster of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Must be 19 years of age or older to apply.
Responsibilities:
  1. Teach classes in all areas of Biblical studies and Theology.
  2. Engage in departmental planning, course and program assessment, curriculum development, student advising, and assistance with student recruitment.
  3. Remain current in areas of teaching responsibilities.
  4. Provide service to the university and the church.
  5. Complete other general faculty responsibilities.
  6. Participates in campus activities and serves on faculty and institutional committees, as assigned.
  7. Demonstrate a willingness to enthusiastically embrace the mission and vision of Concordia University, Nebraska.
  8. Other faculty duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. preferred; Ph.D. candidates with dissertation in process may be considered.
Experience:
  • Appropriate successful experience in the workplace or in a classroom that will lead to successful university-level teaching and mentoring in an acceptable subset of the following areas:
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, preferably at the community college or university level.
  • Desire to develop professional relationships with students in which the faculty member is seen as an instructor, mentor, and advisor.
  • Minister of Religion ordained and in good standing on the roster of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Specialized Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of theology, philosophy, and biblical languages and the theology professions or direct practical experience in related field is important.
  • Proficiency in teaching Biblical Greek.

Proficiencies:
  • Proficient in the use of technology, software applications including Blackboard, Banner, and related applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing necessary for teaching.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks on sometimes short deadlines.

Special Position Requirements:
  1. Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, course development, assessment, best teaching, and administrative practices; or a record of excellence in teaching.
  2. Able to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency both on and off campus.
  3. Committed to an environment of encouragement, teamwork, and excellence within a Christian University.
  4. Responsible for creating an environment that is consistent with the values of the University and fosters the development of students. This environment is one that is designed to build a positive character and foster Christian faith formation.
  5. Demonstrate character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
  6. Able to work within a culture of teamwork with emotional stability and positive words/actions.
  7. Be professional and courteous in dealing with students, families, faculty and staff, and the general public.
  8. Values and beliefs aligned with The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
  9. Ability to travel, including overnight and weekend events, as needed.
  10. Ability to maintain driver's certification for University provided vehicles and University-related travel.
  11. Must follow security policies that correspond to the level of sensitivity of the data they handle.
  12. Should promptly report any security concerns or incidents to designated personnel.
  13. Maintain security and patching of personal devices connected to the institutional email.
  14. Maintain high standards for institutional, staff, faculty, employee, and financial data used for business operations.
