Job description

We are hiring for the 2026-2027 school year. Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. First founded in 1968, SCA has maintained its core mission of maximizing the God-given potential of each student, preparing them to live lives of distinction, by impacting the world for Jesus Christ.

We provide a Christian worldview education with academic excellence, arts, and athletics. We are a member of the CESA council of schools and are accredited by Cognia and Exemplary Accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). SCA seeks Christian professionals who are Christ-centered, competent, compassionate, relational, of high character, and who are impassioned in their field.

The Full-Time or Part-Time Upper School Teacher may include teaching a combination of middle and high school classes in specific content areas such as Spanish, History, Physical Education (PE), English Language Arts (ELA), or Bible. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about Christian education and is called to work with youth, desiring them to grow in their understanding in the specific content area with a biblical perspective.

Beyond preparing lessons and grading assignments, the employee will also take on routine responsibilities common to all SCA teaching staff. Our teachers are responsible for fulfilling the mission of Scottsdale Christian by equipping minds through engaging, innovative instruction and nurturing hearts by mentoring young people as a spiritual leader and role model. This teacher will report directly to the Upper School Principal.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES : Education & Certification Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education in the subject content area or a related field from an accredited college is required; Masters Degree is preferred. State teaching certification and ACSI certification preferred. Experience: Training in Secondary Education in the assigned subject content area and best practices in teaching is required.

Prior teaching experience preferred. Skills: Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods. Ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations. Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of FACTS a plus. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES Display a deep knowledge of subject content area and its application to our lives. Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to middle and high school students.

Teach subject content area classes utilizing the latest research and best practices. Display a deep understanding of informal and formal assessments and the ability to design assessments that guide instruction towards student mastery of skills. Promote student engagement to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student.

Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom as well as instruction while monitoring and managing students behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules. Teach classes assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Administrators/Principals. Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.

Establish and adjust course syllabi outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals.
