Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is offering an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Duck Creek Developer to join the IT underwriting team. In this role, you will define and review technical requirements for Duck Creek applications, including rating, forms, integrations, and page builder functionalities. Additionally, you will provide insights on maintaining and improving performance and quality. Furthermore, you will mentor junior developers and collaborate with delivery leads to ensure the delivery of products that surpass our business customers' expectations within the underwriting vertical.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team responsible for overseeing deliveries, design, development, and deployment.
  • Independently craft code for Agile stories of high complexity across diverse platforms.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to contribute to test automation efforts.
  • Tasks involving development and design for Policy development, encompassing Duck Creek Manuscripts, Inheritance modeling, User Admin setup, Skins configuration, XSLT transforms, and SQL Database queries and procedures.
  • Identify, debug, and resolve high-complexity bugs or issues independently, pinpointing the root cause and implementing fixes.
  • Adhere to development standards and proficiently present technical solutions during code reviews with fellow developers.
  • Collaborate closely with technical resources to interpret and translate business requirements into solution designs.
  • Actively engage in the analysis, configuration, and programming activities supporting our business systems.
  • Develop the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels, effectively communicating and engaging with diverse teammates.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated 8 years of professional expertise in software development and/or software architecture.
  • 5+ years of adeptness in Duck Creek Policy admin system, Author, Page builder, with a comprehensive understanding of underwriting, rating, insurance rules, and forms; Experience with Duck Creek policy platform version 8.x is a plus.
  • Exhibited 5+ years of proficiency in leading and managing intricate systems projects.
  • Displayed 5+ years of hands-on experience using P&C insurance software applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong competency with MS Office Applications.
  • Experience in leading Waterfall and Agile software delivery models
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • All candidates must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
