  • Work with health physicists to determine appropriate re-entry requirements following radiological incidents.
  • Direct other technicians as necessary in monitoring activities and response efforts involving contaminated personnel.
  • Assume field leadership responsibilities when required and direct the work of other technicians in operational settings.
  • Complete assignments by adhering to established requirements, specifications, and operational procedures.

  • Strong understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in radiation protection and operational health physics.
  • Ability to provide technical solutions to complex radiological protection challenges while maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of technical accuracy and safety.
  • Ability to mentor and guide other technicians while supporting facility radiological operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional training, certification, or education in radiation protection may be desirable.

Clearance and Program Requirements

  • DOE Q Clearance required. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required except in extremely limited circumstances.
