Job description

Meat Supervisor, Woodlake Market 

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Kohler, WI

This is a full-time position at Woodlake Market. Shifts will vary on weekdays and weekends varying between 5:00 am and 9:00 pm CST. 

Opportunity

The Market Meat Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat and seafood department, ensuring premium product quality, exceptional customer service, and compliance with food and safety standards. This role supports the Food and Beverage Supervisor and leads a team in delivering curated, upscale experience for customers seeking fresh, sustainable, and specialty proteins. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Team Support 

  • Supervise and support meat and seafood associates during daily operations
  • Train team members on proper cutting, handling, and customer service techniques
  • Delegate tasks and unsure timely completion of prep, stocking, and sanitation duties 

 Customer Service and Sales

  • Provide expert recommendations on cuts, cooking methods, and pairings
  • Handle customer orders, special requests, and seafood preparation with precision
  • Educate customers on sourcing, sustainability, and product origins

Product Quality and Merchandising

  • Ensure all meat and seafood products are fresh, properly labeled, and attractively displayed
  • Monitor product rotation and manager shrink to minimize waste
  • Assist in planning and executing seasonal displays and promotions 

Food Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce strict food safety and sanitation protocols, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules
  • Ensure compliance with local health regulations and store policies 
  • Maintain proper storage and handling of raw and cooked products 

Inventory and Ordering 

  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the Food Operations Manager 
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying product quality and accuracy 
  • Track usage and suggest adjustments to ordering based on sales trends 

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Coordinate with deli, grocery, and prepared foods teams for cross-promotions and events 
  • Support store-wide initiatives and seasonal resets  
  • Act as MOD on as needed rotational basis and follow responsibilities and expectations as set in the MOD SOP 

Skills/Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or equivalency required 
  • Must be at least 18 years old 
  • 2+ years of experience in meat and/or seafood or food service, with 1+ years leadership responsibilities preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, seafood varieties, and preparation techniques 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills 
  • Ability to lead by example and maintain high standards 
  • Ability to read and modify recipes  
  • Ability to operate slicers, scales, and other equipment safely 
  • Ability to use POS systems and comfortable with cash handling 
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent required or obtained upon hire 
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in cold environments and stand for extended periods of time 
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
