Overview

The HEI Internship Program is a 10 - 12 week fast track development opportunity for college students to expand their knowledge in the hospitality industry. The Intern will spend their program immersing themselves into the front of house Food and Beverage discipline by shadowing critical leaders, attending operational meetings and working alongside the associates and leadership team that ensure the day-to-day success of the department. The objective of this program is to provide you with a foundation that will prepare you for a long-term career within the hospitality industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shadow identified leaders within the department at the hotel.
  • Shadow each shift and each position within the Outlet you are assigned to at the hotel.
  • Consistently attend department meetings as well as any leadership meetings at the hotel.
  • Become proficient with operating the PMS and all other systems used by the Food & Beverage team.
  • Utilize labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs.
  • Interact positively with customers and take action to resolve problems to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Recent or current graduate of a hospitality program preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
  • Ability to use point of service computer.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public, etc.
