About this position: Coffee Shop Barista Location โ€“ Nome, AK The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Applicants will be notified via phone or email within ten (10) business days of submittal. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Taking client orders and receiving payment. Grind and brew coffee providing well-presented beverages. Develop expert knowledge of coffee and maintain consistency and attention to detail. Collaborate with all team members. Maintaining a clean and sanitized shop environment while following health and safety guidelines. Operate point of sale system and contribute to establishments sales. Punctual and maintaining consistent attendance. Ability to remain calm and efficient during peak business hours. Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask. Respond well to instructions and helpful feedback. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines (understanding or willing to learn general operation and sanitizing) Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices regarding expiration dates and quality control. Ability to work variable hours such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Preferred N/A Supervisory Responsibilities This position will not have supervisory responsibilities. DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation โ€œsafety-sensitiveโ€ functions. Necessary Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Individuals will be required to stand for extended periods of time and push or pull heavy equipment/supplies. In addition, squatting, kneeling, sitting, bending, reaching and climbing are also required. The job is performed in a coffee shop setting with exposure to hot liquids and requires extensive use of coffee and espresso machinery. Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
