Additional Details about the position
  • Must have a specialized knowledge of the particular patient population
  • Knowledge of chart documentation
  • Knowledge of referral services
Procedures
  • Network with providers and agencies to provide ongoing follow-up and care services in OB/IP department
  • Coordinate patient appointments for outpatient services, specialty clinics, and external clinics, and confirm travel arrangements
  • Obtain medical records from other facilities and providers and verify records are complete before forwarding to Health Information Management
  • Process patient referrals from NSHC and Specialty providers and track through Cerner Referral Management
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 years working as an RN required
  • Needs pediatric or OB experience, both would be a plus
  • IHS Experience
  • Other AK facility experience
  • Self-sufficient and confident that they can hit the ground running.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • BLS
LICENSURE REQUIREMENT ABOUT THE FACILITY

This facility is a tribally owned and operated, independent, nonprofit healthcare organization, founded in 1970 to meet the health care needs of the Inupiat, Siberian Yup’ik and Yup’ik people of the Bering Strait region. The facility is governed by a 21-member board of directors that represents all communities and areas of the Bering Strait region, a 23,000 square-mile section of northwestern Alaska. This facility puts the patient first. This principle applies equally at the new facility and at the 15 village clinics managed by them.

Every day, the facilities approximately 700 employees demonstrate their commitment to their mission: providing quality health services and promoting wellness within their people and environment. They are a model of how Indian Self-Determination is meant to work, with tribes taking responsibility for their own health and well-being.
