Job Overview:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of factory planning and engineering and helps to ensure that ongoing projects run smoothly.

Responsibilities:
The planning intern provides support to the planning team by assisting with all aspects of production planning, engineering and helps to ensure that the ongoing plant expansion project runs smoothly.ย 
Other daily tasks include:
  • Process documentation

  • Optimize daily processes with new ideas

  • Assist where needed by the department or other areas
  • Assist and lead meetings
  • Support and Optimization of Mercedes-Benz production lines
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Work and support the department projects - with guidance with other engineers
  • Support the team with documentation for the projects
  • Attend team meetings and track engineering performance KPIs
  • Support and implements initiatives while maintaining high quality standards

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous knowledge in engineering fields
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.

More than 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
