OVERVIEW
Alera Group is looking for an Senior Consultant, Employee Benefits to join our growing team. We're seeking motivated, relationship-driven professionals who bring both experience and enthusiasm to their work. RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a high-performing and analytical Senior Consultant to join our Employee Benefits practice. In this pivotal client-facing role, you will lead the development of strategic benefit solutions, deliver complex financial analysis, and provide valuable mentorship to team members.
  • Lead Client Advisory & Strategy: Serve as a primary client advisor, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with client philosophy and goals. Develop and assist in leading annual strategic reviews and multi-year benefit strategies.
  • Deliver Financial Analysis: Produce comprehensive financial analyses, including renewals, budgets, contribution modeling, claims trends, and RFP outcomes.
  • Oversee Client Outcomes: Oversee plan design, funding, and vendor negotiations to ensure optimal client outcomes. Serve as an escalation resource for complex client and service issues.
  • Provide Team Guidance: Mentor team members and lead training sessions, effectively teaching complex processes and concepts to junior staff.
  • Maintain Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of regulatory trends, including ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA. Stay current on market trends and relay those trends during strategy meetings.
  • Identify Growth: Proactively pursue growth opportunities across clients (e.g., voluntary benefits, analytics, point solutions).

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years managing complex employee benefit accounts or relevant business experience.
  • Active Life & Health License in the state of residence.
  • Deep expertise in underwriting, plan funding (fully insured, level funded, self-insured), and data analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Proficiency in BenefitPoint is also required.

  • Strategic & Analytical Thinker: Ability to design innovative benefit solutions and apply deep financial and analytical acumen. Highly skilled at data story-telling.
  • Exceptional Relationship Manager: Proven ability to build trust through proactive communication. Clients can rely on you for relationship guidance, in addition to the Producer.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to drive conversation and diffuse difficult conversations.
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Quickly recognizes and understands the emotions of others, adjusting personal and interpersonal behavior to build rapport and lead teams effectively.
  • Accountable & Organized: Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail. Must manage the end-to-end client lifecycle and multiple priorities with precision and efficiency.

Compensation:
Salary range: $150,000 - $210,000 per year, based on experience.
