Job description

The next person to join our team needs to come ready and willing to support all students find a pathway towards success! This individual will support in the classroom and throughout the school as we help students meet our academic and behavioral expectations. Our newest team member will need to work hand in hand with administration and teachers to uphold school wide standards. This individual will need to be able to support small group and whole group instructional opportunities while building positive relationships across the building. 
Salary: $15.89 - $24.60 commensurate with experience
Hours per day: 7.5 hours
Number of days: 184 days (prorated for the rest of the 25-26 school year)

JOB SUMMARY:
This position supervises students in a variety of areas throughout the building.  This position requires someone to be a self-starter and flexible as the needs of the students and building change. Responsibilities include monitoring student behavior, assisting students with assignments, and maintaining records. Assisting other clerical staff as needed and other duties as assigned by administration.








REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Principal and Assistant Principals.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitors student behavior and reinforces appropriate behavior and ensures that students stay on task. Refers students who violate program rules to school administrator.
  2. Assists students with work assignments; answers questions. Contacts teachers to obtain homework assignments as needed. Reinforces classroom learning activities.
  3. Maintains records of student activities and behavior; forwards information to teachers and school administrators. Types program-related materials.
  4. Exchanges information with school staff concerning students assigned to program; participates in staff meetings as requested.
  5. May call parents concerning students involved in school; discusses problems and concerns of parents regarding students.
  6. May provide clerical assistance to school staff members as time allows; types correspondence and forms; corrects student assignments or monitors loading of buses.
  7. May develop written and oral behavior modification materials for use in helping students recognize a need for change and/or compromise in a specific area of their behavior. Provides these materials to students; instructs students to read materials and complete exercises by deadline. Encourages students to improve their behavior.
  8. May act as time-out supervisor; talks to angry or upset students; assists students to calm down so they can attend their next class in a frame of mind conducive to learning.
  9. May photocopy materials for staff; may provide assistance to staff and students in operating photocopying equipment; tabulates individual department usages of photocopier; troubleshoots problems with photocopying equipment.
  10. Performs related duties as assigned by administration.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Classroom environment; experiences frequent interruptions. Required to deal with upset, disruptive or angry students. Confined to work area.

Education & Experience
High school/GED. Experience working with adolescents preferred.
