What You'll Do

Sol de Janeiro isย seekingย a curious, detail-oriented Fragrance Product Development Intern to support our Fragrance Product Development team. Working under the direction of theย Seniorย Manager, Fragrance Product Development, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to the end-to-end fragrance product development process.ย 

This roleย isย designed for someone passionate about fragrance who wants to build foundational experience inย product development, fragrance creation,ย fragrance evaluation, cross-functional collaboration,ย manufacturing scale up,ย and the day-to-day execution ofย fragranceย product development.ย You will support and learn fragrance development across the entire Sol de Janeiro portfolio from perfume mists to body and hair products.ย This roleย will support theย Fragrance

What You'll Be Working On

These duties may be reviewed andย modifiedย from time to time based on mutual needs.ย 

  • Fragrance Development Support:ย Assistย theย teamย across the end-to-end product development process for fragrance development, includingย sample organization,ย internal andย externalย meetingsย support, technicalย transfers, and launch preparation.ย You will work in fragrance development across all products including - perfume mists, innovation,ย bodyย and hair products.ย 
  • Fragrance Evaluation:ย Supportย theย organization of fragrance evaluation. Evaluate alongside the Fragrance Development Team andย assistย in documenting and organizing scent assessments,ย olfactiveย notes, and feedback to support the team'sย developmentย decisions.ย 
  • Trend Research:ย Monitorย and summarize emerging fragrance trends, technologies, ingredients, and best practices, sharing insights with the team to inform development.ย 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:ย Help coordinate across internal teams - Packaging Development, Project Management, Product Marketing, Creative, andย Supply Chain - to support seamless coordination throughout the product development lifecycle.ย 
  • Project & Timeline Support:ย Support the Fragrance Development Teamย maintainย on timeย project milestonesย byย maintainingย development trackers and projectย documents, andย help ensure multiple projects progress on schedule.ย 
  • Vendor & Sample Management:ย Assist in organizing and cataloguing fragrance house submissions and contract manufacturer samples; support communication with external partners under the guidance of theย Fragrance Development Team.ย 
  • Documentation & Reporting:ย Prepare meeting agendas and notes, organize development files and technical documentation, and help assemble presentation materials for internal reviews.ย 
  • Lab & Sample Organization:ย Maintainย an organized sample library,ย assistย with physical sample handling and labeling, and keep the development workspace orderly.ย 
  • Other duties as assigned.ย 
Must Havesย 

Requiredย 

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program inย Cosmetics,ย Fragrance,ย Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,ย Biology,ย or a relatedย ย 
  • Passion for fragranceย 
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.ย 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).ย 
  • Ability to workย onsiteย at our New York office.ย 
  • Self-motivatedย 

Preferredย 

  • Basic familiarity with fragrance evaluation concepts (e.g., fragrance families, top/heart/base notes, olfactive vocabulary) - formal training or coursework in fragrance evaluation is a strong plus.ย 
  • Anย interestย to learnย fragrance evaluation.ย 
  • Prior coursework, workshop, or internship experience in fragrance,ย beauty, or cosmetic product development.ย 
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycles in beauty or personal care.ย
